Prospero Teaching is working in partnership with an outstanding independent school in Melbourne’s CBD to appoint an experienced and highly organised Accounts Receivable Officer. This is a fantastic opportunity for an accounts professional who enjoys working in a people-focused environment and would like to bring their financial administration skills into a busy and welcoming school community.
The role has a strong focus on accounts receivable, while also involving regular communication with families, staff and school leadership.
The Role Working as part of the school's administration team, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of accounts receivable while providing a professional and approachable service to families.
Key responsibilities will include:
Managing accounts receivable processes
Raising and processing invoices
Monitoring outstanding accounts and following up payments
Allocating and reconciling payments
Maintaining accurate financial records
Responding to family enquiries regarding fees, accounts and payments
Liaising professionally with parents and carers regarding outstanding balances
Preparing reports and providing accurate financial information
Assisting with account reconciliations and general finance administration
Maintaining accurate records within school systems
Working closely with the wider administration and finance team
Supporting school leadership with accounts-related queries and information
Providing general administrative support where required
This is a school-based, people-facing accounts role, so excellent communication and relationship-building skills are just as important as strong financial administration.
Working Within the School The successful candidate will work on-site Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm, 38 hours per week. The school is looking for someone who enjoys being part of a community and is comfortable working closely with families, teaching staff, administration and leadership. The role is particularly suited to someone who takes pride in providing a professional, helpful and friendly service while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and financial accuracy. There is some flexibility around the non-term periods, with the expectation that the successful candidate will be present during term time when students and teaching staff are on-site.
Systems Experience
Experience with Synergetic and Alii would be highly advantageous. The school recognises that these systems are relatively specialised and that experience with both platforms is not common outside the education sector. Experience with other finance, accounts or student management systems will also be considered, provided you are confident learning new platforms and processes.
