Prospero Teaching Australia is proud to be partnering with a highly regarded independent faith-based secondary school in Sydney to recruit a dedicated English Teacher (Years 7–9) for a maternity cover position commencing 20 July 2026.

The successful candidate will join a supportive English faculty, delivering engaging and purposeful lessons that develop students’ confidence in reading, writing, and critical thinking.
This role is Years 7–9 English, working four days per week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) on a maternity cover contract starting 20 July 2026.
Key responsibilities include:
• Teaching English across Years 7–9
• Planning and delivering engaging, curriculum-aligned lessons
• Supporting literacy development, comprehension, and writing skills
• Differentiating learning to meet the needs of a diverse range of students
• Using effective classroom management strategies to create a positive learning environment
• Assessing and reporting on student progress in line with school requirements
• Building strong relationships with students, colleagues, and families
• Contributing positively to the wider school community
You will be a passionate English educator who enjoys working with lower secondary students and is committed to fostering a love of language, literature, and communication.
You will have:
• Relevant teaching qualifications in English or Education
• Current NESA accreditation or eligibility to teach in NSW
• Experience teaching secondary English (preferred but not essential)
• Strong understanding of the NSW English Curriculum
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills
• A student-centred and supportive teaching approach
• The ability to engage and inspire younger secondary learners
• A collaborative and flexible mindset
Both experienced teachers and confident graduates with strong practicum experience are encouraged to apply.
