Prospero Teaching is working in partnership with a Catholic co-educational secondary school in Melbourne’s western suburbs to appoint an enthusiastic and committed English Teacher for January 2027.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate English teacher to join a welcoming school community that places strong emphasis on academic achievement, student wellbeing, literacy, critical thinking and developing confident communicators.
The successful teacher will deliver engaging English programs across Years 7–12, supporting students to develop their literacy, analytical, creative and communication skills.

About the Role
The successful applicant will:
- Teach English across Years 7–12
- Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured English lessons
- Develop students' literacy, comprehension, writing and communication skills
- Teach literature, language, text analysis and creative/analytical writing
- Prepare students for senior secondary English where appropriate
- Develop students' critical thinking and ability to analyse a range of texts
- Differentiate learning to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback
- Develop positive relationships with students
- Support student wellbeing and engagement
- Work collaboratively within the English faculty
- Contribute positively to the wider life of the school
- Support the Catholic ethos, values and community of the school
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an English teacher who is:
- Qualified to teach Secondary English
- Registered or eligible for registration with VIT
- Experienced teaching secondary students, ideally Years 7–12
- Confident teaching English across junior and senior secondary levels
- Strong in literacy, written communication and text analysis
- Confident with classroom management and student engagement
- Able to build strong and positive relationships with students
- Passionate about developing students' literacy and confidence
- Collaborative and committed to working as part of a team
- Comfortable working within a Catholic school environment
- Committed to supporting students academically, personally and socially
Teachers with experience teaching VCE English, VCE VM Literacy or senior English subjects are particularly encouraged to apply.
