About the role

Prospero Teaching is currently seeking an experienced and inspiring Head of HSIE with a strong background in Commerce and Legal Studies to join one of our partner independent schools in South-West Sydney.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced educator looking to lead a dynamic HSIE faculty while maintaining a teaching load focused primarily on Commerce and Legal Studies. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving teaching excellence, curriculum development and student achievement while fostering a collaborative and high-performing faculty culture.

Conveniently located in South-West Sydney, the school is easily accessible from surrounding suburbs including Liverpool, Fairfield, Hoxton Park and Casula.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the HSIE faculty, promoting excellence in teaching and learning
• Teach predominantly Commerce and Legal Studies across secondary year levels
• Drive curriculum development, assessment and faculty improvement initiatives
• Mentor and support teachers through coaching, professional learning and performance development
• Analyse student data to improve teaching practice and academic outcomes
• Ensure compliance with NESA curriculum requirements and assessment policies
• Foster a positive, collaborative and high-performing faculty culture
• Build strong relationships with students, families and the wider school community
• Contribute to whole-school strategic planning and leadership initiatives

What we're looking for

• Current NESA Accreditation (Proficient or higher)
• Relevant Secondary Teaching qualification
• Demonstrated experience teaching Commerce and Legal Studies
• Previous faculty leadership or Head of Department experience (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of the NSW curriculum and NESA requirements
• Exceptional leadership, organisational and communication skills
• Proven ability to mentor staff and drive improved student outcomes
• Commitment to student wellbeing and academic excellence
