About the Role
We are seeking a creative and empathetic Secondary English Teacher who can deliver engaging lessons while catering to the diverse needs of neurodiverse learners. In this role, you will:
Teach English across secondary year levels, including curriculum-aligned programs up to year 10.
Integrate additional subjects where possible, providing a richer learning experience for students
Design lessons tailored to neurodiverse learners, including those with ASD, ADHD, or social-emotional challenges
Use positive behaviour support strategies to engage students and encourage growth
Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
Collaborate with specialist staff, support workers, and families to ensure holistic student support
Contribute to the broader school community and co-curricular programs
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Have experience teaching Secondary English
Be patient, resilient, and empathetic in working with neurodiverse learners
Demonstrate creativity, flexibility, and innovative teaching approaches
Build strong, positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families
Be collaborative, reflective, and committed to ongoing professional development
Be able to teach an additional subject alongside English (desirable but not essential)
Essential Requirements
Current VIT registration (or eligibility prior to commencement)
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Secondary Education / English
Full working rights in Australia
