Prospero Teaching is proud to be partnering with a respected school in the Bundaberg region to appoint a dedicated First Nations Educator – Early Learning Centre for an immediate commencement.

With a strong focus on community, belonging, and holistic development, the school values authentic partnerships with families and local communities and is seeking a passionate educator to help embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives throughout the Early Learning Centre.

The Opportunity
Join a collaborative and supportive Early Learning team where you will:
  • Support the integration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives throughout the Early Learning Centre program
  • Collaborate with educators to develop meaningful, age-appropriate cultural learning experiences
  • Foster a culturally safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all children
  • Promote children's understanding of culture, identity, community, and connection to Country
  • Support children's learning, wellbeing, and development through play-based and inquiry-based approaches
  • Act as a cultural role model, encouraging respect, understanding, and pride in First Nations cultures
  • Assist with celebrating significant cultural events, including NAIDOC Week and National Reconciliation Week
  • Build strong partnerships with families and local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Support documentation, learning observations, and curriculum planning processes
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team culture within the Early Learning Centre
About You
You are a passionate and community-focused educator who:
  • Holds a current Blue Card or Exemption Card
  • Has demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures
  • Has strong connections to, or engagement with, local First Nations communities
  • Holds current First Aid, CPR, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis qualifications
  • Holds, or is actively studying towards, a Certificate III in Children's Services or higher (or approved equivalent qualification)
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Is committed to creating culturally responsive and inclusive learning environments
  • Thrives in a collaborative and child-centred educational setting
  • Is passionate about supporting young children to develop a strong sense of identity, belonging, and wellbeing
Highly Desirable
  • Experience working within an early childhood or educational setting
  • Training in embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives within early childhood programs
  • Knowledge of local Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander language and culture
  • Experience in storytelling, music, art, or cultural practices relevant to young children
  • Understanding of play-based learning approaches
  • Trauma-informed practice training
  • Social and emotional wellbeing or Mental Health First Aid training
