About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic HSIE Teacher specialising in History and Junior English to join a supportive school community for Term 4, 2026.
This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about developing students' understanding of history, culture, literacy, critical thinking, and communication skills. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and inspiring lessons across History and Junior English, creating meaningful learning experiences that encourage curiosity, discussion, and a love of learning.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver curriculum-aligned programs while supporting students with diverse learning needs and abilities. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to a vibrant learning environment where students are encouraged to think critically, communicate effectively, and become active participants in their learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging History and Junior English lessons across secondary year levels.
- Develop stimulating learning experiences that promote critical thinking, literacy development, and historical inquiry skills.
- Foster students' appreciation of historical events, perspectives, cultures, and contemporary issues.
- Support students in developing strong reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and engagement.
- Differentiate learning programs to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing meaningful feedback to support improvement.
- Utilise a range of teaching strategies and technologies to enhance student learning outcomes.
- Promote high expectations for student achievement and behaviour.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum resources and improve student outcomes.
- Contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities, events, and school initiatives.
- Participate in professional development and ongoing learning opportunities.
Essential Criteria
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Current VIT registration or eligibility for registration.
- Ability to teach History and Junior English at secondary level.
- Strong knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum and contemporary teaching practices.
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging and inclusive learning experiences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong classroom management and relationship-building abilities.
- Commitment to student wellbeing and academic success.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team.
Desirable
- Experience teaching History and/or English across Years 7-10.
- Experience delivering engaging literacy programs and inquiry-based learning.
- Strong understanding of historical investigation and source analysis.
- Experience supporting student wellbeing and pastoral care initiatives.
- Experience contributing to school clubs, excursions, camps, or extracurricular programs.
- Ability to integrate technology into classroom teaching and learning.
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.
