Latin teacher – part-time (secondary)
Location: Melbourne (inner east / Kew area)
Position: Part-time, ongoing or fixed-term (0.3–0.4 FTE suggested)
Start date: Term 1, 2026 (January start)
Prospero Teaching is partnering with a highly regarded Melbourne secondary school to recruit an experienced and passionate Latin teacher. This is an opportunity to join a school known for its strong academic culture, supportive leadership and commitment to classical languages.
You will:
Teach Latin to secondary students in Years 7–12 as part of the languages and classics program
Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with curriculum and faculty guidelines
Contribute to course writing, resource preparation, assessment and reporting
Support the department in delivering a high-quality, culturally rich language program
Maintain professional standards including pastoral care, child safety and compliance with school policies
Recognised teaching qualification with valid Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration or eligibility
Experience teaching Latin or other classical languages at secondary level
Strong subject knowledge, organisational skills and the ability to plan, deliver and assess programs
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to child safety, wellbeing and pastoral care
Work within a well-supported and resourced languages and classics department
Part-time load (0.3–0.4 FTE) offering flexibility
