Learning Leader Humanities (Maternity Leave Position)
Location: North Eastern Melbourne
Starting: January 2026
Salary inline with the: $79,589 to $118,063 per annum plus super + position of Leadership (POL) allowance
tenure: Full time maternity leave cover

Prospero Teaching is proud to be working in partnership with a Catholic secondary college for boys in Melbourne’s northeast. The college is seeking a dedicated and inspiring learning leader humanities to join its dynamic learning community from Term 3 2025.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher and leader to guide a collaborative humanities team of 10 staff and contribute to the ongoing development of a strong teaching and learning culture within a Catholic environment.

Key responsibilities of the learning leader humanities
• Provide instructional leadership across history, geography, civics, business management, economics and legal studies
• Lead, support and mentor a team of 10 teachers within the humanities department
• Drive curriculum planning, assessment practices and innovative pedagogy aligned with the Victorian curriculum and VCE pathways
• Promote academic excellence through engaging, evidence-based teaching and learning
• Contribute actively to the broader life of the college including co-curricular involvement
• Model and uphold the Catholic ethos and values of the school community

The successful candidate will
• Hold a recognised secondary teaching qualification (B.Ed, M.Teach or equivalent)
• Be registered (or eligible) with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT)
• Demonstrate leadership experience in curriculum, assessment and staff mentoring
• Be an excellent communicator and team leader with a collaborative approach to professional growth
• Support the mission and vision of Catholic education fostering the holistic development of students
