Are you a passionate Music Teacher looking for a rewarding opportunity in the art capital of Regional New South Wales?

Prospero Teaching Australia is excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic Music Teacher to join a well-managed and supportive Catholic public school. This medium-sized, mixed, all-through school is seeking to appoint a Head of Music on a full-time permanent basis, starting Term 3, 2025.

The school prides itself on a positive and nurturing teaching environment where students benefit from skilled, motivated, and diverse teachers. The school currently offers music education from Kindergarten to Year 10, with plans to expand to Year 11 by 2026. While the music program has been taught by a primary teacher in recent years, the school is now looking for an experienced and passionate music educator to develop and expand the program across all year levels.

The school is committed to becoming a singing-focused institution, and recent highlights include the successful production of Matilda the Musical, which brought the whole school together through music and drama. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering a love for music across the school, helping students develop confidence and creativity, particularly in those who may not yet feel fully expressive musically.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and expand the music curriculum from Kindergarten to Year 10, with plans to introduce Year 11 by 2026.

  • Foster a love for music and singing within the school, encouraging active participation in music activities.

  • Lead and develop extracurricular music opportunities, such as choirs, performances, and school musicals.

  • Collaborate with the Head of Department to shape the direction of the school's music program.

  • Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and engaging music environment for all students.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong passion for music education and a commitment to nurturing musical talents, particularly in younger students.

  • Experience in teaching music at the primary and junior school levels.

  • Ability to develop a comprehensive music program and engage students in a variety of musical activities.

  • Comfortable working with a supportive and energetic student body, inspiring confidence in those still developing musically.

  • Ideally, experience in choirs, school productions, and growing a singing-focused program.

The Music Teacher Will:

  • Hold NESA qualifications.

  • Teach Music across Years 3–9.

  • Be proficient with keyboard, guitar, or drums.

  • Deliver engaging and innovative lessons aligned with the curriculum.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to support student success.

The Ideal Music Teacher Will:

  • Hold relevant teaching qualifications.

  • Be NESA-accredited or eligible for accreditation.

  • Have experience teaching Music at middle school level.

  • Be passionate about student learning and development.

  • Possess strong communication and classroom management skills.
