About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic PDHPE Teacher to join the school community from January 2027.

This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about physical education, health, wellbeing and student development and enjoys creating engaging, practical and inclusive learning experiences.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging PDHPE programs across secondary year levels, supporting students to develop their physical literacy, health knowledge, teamwork, confidence and understanding of positive wellbeing.

You will encourage students to take an active role in their learning through practical activities, sport, fitness, health education and real-world learning experiences.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and deliver curriculum programs aligned with the Victorian Curriculum, while supporting students with a range of abilities, interests and learning needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging PDHPE lessons across secondary year levels.
  • Develop practical and inclusive physical education experiences that encourage participation and lifelong engagement in physical activity.
  • Teach health and wellbeing concepts through relevant and real-world learning experiences.
  • Support students to develop physical literacy, fitness, teamwork, leadership and resilience.
  • Create a positive and inclusive environment where students of all abilities feel confident participating.
  • Assess and monitor student progress and provide meaningful feedback.
  • Differentiate learning to support individual student needs and abilities.
  • Incorporate a range of sports, games, fitness activities and practical learning experiences into lessons.
  • Promote positive attitudes towards health, wellbeing and active lifestyles.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum delivery and student outcomes.
  • Contribute to the wider school community through sporting programs, camps, competitions and extracurricular activities.
  • Participate in professional development and wider school activities.

Essential Criteria

  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Current VIT registration or eligibility for registration.
  • Ability to teach Physical Education and Health at secondary level.
  • Strong understanding of contemporary Physical Education and Health curriculum.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop engaging, practical and inclusive learning experiences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
  • Commitment to student wellbeing and creating a supportive learning environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team.

Desirable

  • Experience teaching PDHPE, Physical Education or Health across Years 7–12.
  • Experience coaching school or community sport.
  • Experience delivering a range of individual and team sports.
  • Experience contributing to school sporting programs, carnivals or extracurricular activities.
  • Experience supporting student wellbeing and pastoral care initiatives.
  • Experience developing fitness, health or wellbeing programs.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional learning and development.
