Prospero Teaching are proud to be partnering with an innovative neuroaffirming K-13 independent school in Sydney's West to recruit an exceptional Primary Special Education Teacher to join its founding team in 2027.

Opening a purpose-designed campus in 2027, the school has been created specifically for neurodivergent learners, with a vision that every student feels safe, seen, understood, and celebrated.

This is a rare opportunity for a passionate Primary educator with specialist training in Special or Inclusive Education to help shape a new school from the ground up and create learning experiences that genuinely respond to each student's strengths, interests, communication preferences, and individual needs.

The opportunity

As a Primary Special Education Teacher, you will work within small, calm and sensory-aware classrooms, delivering highly personalised and evidence-informed learning programs.

Working alongside learning support staff, therapists, wellbeing professionals, and families, you will:

  • Teach neurodivergent students across the Primary years
  • Design and deliver differentiated, evidence-informed learning experiences
  • Develop personalised learning pathways based on each student's individual strengths, interests, and developmental needs
  • Create calm, structured, and predictable classroom environments
  • Use neurodiversity-affirming and strengths-based approaches to teaching and learning
  • Support students' academic learning alongside communication, emotional regulation, social development, and wellbeing
  • Develop and implement individual learning plans and appropriate classroom adjustments
  • Work collaboratively with therapists and learning support professionals to embed multidisciplinary recommendations into classroom practice
  • Build safe, trusting, and meaningful relationships with students
  • Partner closely with families to support student development and achievement
  • Monitor student progress and adapt learning programs to achieve positive individual outcomes
  • Contribute ideas and expertise as part of the school's founding teaching team

About you

You are a compassionate, reflective, and highly skilled educator who believes that difference should be understood and celebrated.

You will bring:

  • An undergraduate degree in Primary Education
  • A Master of Special Education, or current postgraduate studies in Special Education or Inclusive Education
  • Current NESA accreditation or eligibility for accreditation
  • A strong understanding of differentiated and individualised teaching practices
  • A genuine commitment to neurodiversity-affirming education
  • An ability to create calm, inclusive, and supportive learning environments
  • Strong relationship-building skills and a student-centred approach
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, support staff, allied health professionals, and families
  • A reflective approach to teaching and a commitment to ongoing professional learning
  • Creativity, curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to contribute to the development of a new school community

Why this opportunity?

This school has been purposefully designed to enable both students and educators to thrive.

Benefits include:

  • Small class sizes
  • Calm and sensory-aware classrooms
  • High levels of learning and multidisciplinary support
  • Protected planning time
  • High-quality professional learning and ongoing coaching
  • Supportive and relational leadership
  • Opportunity to join the school's founding team

  • Leadership and career progression opportunities as the school grows

  • Purpose-designed facilities in Sydney's West

Above all, this is an opportunity to work within a school where relationships come first and where teaching is designed around the learner, rather than expecting the learner to fit a traditional model.
