Prospero Teaching Australia is partnering with a highly supportive government primary school in Melbourne's western suburbs to appoint a dedicated and relationship-focused Primary Teacher commencing in Term 4, 2026.
This opportunity would suit a teacher who is passionate about student wellbeing, values collaboration, and is looking to establish themselves within a school community before transitioning into a dedicated classroom role.
This large and diverse primary school educates approximately 500 students and serves a vibrant multicultural community representing more than 40 different cultural backgrounds.
The school is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment where student wellbeing is at the centre of all decision-making. Staff work collaboratively to ensure every student feels safe, supported, and able to achieve success.
The successful candidate will initially commence in a flexible teaching capacity, supporting a range of year levels and teaching teams throughout Term 4.

Many students come from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences, with some requiring additional social, emotional, and behavioural support.
The school adopts a trauma-informed approach to education and provides extensive support for both students and staff through:

Dedicated wellbeing and regulation spaces for students

Teachers will also have access to training in the Berry Street Education Model (BSEM), providing valuable skills and strategies to support engagement, wellbeing, and learning outcomes.
Class sizes typically range between 17 and 25 students
Some classes may have up to 30 students
Education Support Staff available where required

The school is seeking an educator who:
Holds current VIT registration or is eligible to obtain registration
Is passionate about supporting student growth and wellbeing
Demonstrates empathy, patience, and consistency
Builds positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Is open to learning, feedback, and professional development
Values collaboration and teamwork
Has an interest in trauma-informed practice and inclusive education
Experience working with students who have experienced trauma is beneficial but not essential. The school has strong support systems in place and is committed to developing the right candidate.
