The Opportunity
Prospero Teaching is working in partnership with a Catholic co-educational secondary school in Melbourne’s western suburbs to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Religious Studies Teacher for January 2027.
This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher with a strong background in Religious Education, Religious Studies, Theology, Values Education or Catholic education to join a supportive school community.
The successful teacher will deliver engaging Religious Studies programs across Years 7–12, encouraging students to explore faith, values, ethics, spirituality and their understanding of the world around them.

About the Role
The successful applicant will:
- Teach Religious Studies / Religious Education across Years 7–12
- Plan and deliver engaging and age-appropriate lessons
- Develop students' understanding of Catholic faith and traditions
- Explore religion, spirituality, ethics, values and contemporary issues
- Encourage respectful discussion and critical thinking
- Support students to consider different perspectives and ethical questions
- Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback
- Differentiate learning to support diverse student needs
- Develop positive relationships with students
- Support student wellbeing and pastoral development
- Work collaboratively with the Religious Education faculty
- Contribute to the wider faith life and community of the school
- Support the Catholic ethos, values and mission of the school
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a teacher who is:
- Qualified to teach Religious Education / Religious Studies
- Registered or eligible for registration with VIT
- Experienced teaching secondary students, ideally Years 7–12
- Confident teaching religion, faith, ethics and values
- Able to engage students in thoughtful discussion and inquiry
- Strong in classroom management and student engagement
- Passionate about student wellbeing and personal development
- Able to build strong and positive relationships with students
- Collaborative and committed to working as part of a team
- Comfortable working within a Catholic school environment
- Committed to contributing to the wider life and faith community of the school
Teachers with backgrounds in Theology, Religious Education, Religious Studies, Philosophy, Ethics or Values Education are encouraged to apply.
