This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly supportive P–12 specialist school in Melbourne, where you’ll work with students with intellectual disability, autism and complex additional needs.

The school offers a highly supportive environment with small classes, strong Education Support staffing and access to allied health professionals, allowing teachers to focus on individual student growth and meaningful learning.

About the Role

You will work with students who have a range of learning, communication, sensory and behavioural needs, developing personalised programs that support both academic and life outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering individualised learning programs and IEPs

  • Supporting communication, social development and emotional regulation

  • Developing strategies for students with sensory and behavioural needs

  • Embedding literacy and numeracy into functional, real-life learning

  • Working collaboratively with Education Support staff and allied health professionals

  • Implementing positive behaviour support strategies

  • Supporting students to develop independence and life skills

  • Contributing to transition and pathways planning

  • Building strong, positive relationships with students, families and colleagues

About You

We are looking for a passionate teacher who has:

  • Strong command of English

    A recognised teaching qualification and eligibility for Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration

  • Experience or a strong interest in Special Education, SEN, Inclusive Education or additional needs

  • Experience working with students with diverse or complex learning needs

  • Strong differentiation and classroom management skills

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • A calm, patient and adaptable approach

  • A genuine commitment to student wellbeing and individual progress

Teachers trained overseas are encouraged to apply, including those currently working in international education systems and looking to transition into Australian teaching.
