Prospero Teaching is currently seeking an outstanding Year 7–9 Student Engagement Leader for a fixed-term maternity leave cover position commencing in 2027.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator to take on a significant leadership role focused on student engagement, wellbeing, transition and pastoral care across Years 7–9.

The Role

Working closely with the Deputy Principal – Student Wellbeing, House Leaders and teaching staff, you will play a key role in supporting students to successfully engage with school, learning and their wider community.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the Year 7–9 Transition Team
  • Supporting the transition of students from primary school into Year 7
  • Developing student engagement and transition programs
  • Supporting House Leaders and Learning Mentors with student wellbeing and behaviour
  • Monitoring and responding to attendance, punctuality, uniform and engagement concerns
  • Supporting interventions for students experiencing barriers to learning
  • Working collaboratively with students, families and staff
  • Coordinating Year 7 orientation, camp and other key student programs
  • Supporting Year 9 experiential learning initiatives
  • Promoting restorative practice, student voice and agency
  • Using student data to identify needs and inform wellbeing and learning strategies
  • Contributing to a positive culture of high expectations, accountability and student success

About You

We are looking for an experienced and highly regarded teacher who is passionate about student wellbeing, pastoral care and engagement.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience as an exemplary classroom teacher
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary student wellbeing practices
  • Experience with behaviour management and restorative practice
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively with students, families and staff
  • Strong organisational and leadership capabilities
  • A calm, compassionate and solutions-focused approach to complex situations
  • High levels of discretion when dealing with sensitive information
  • A genuine commitment to Catholic education and its values

This role would suit an experienced teacher looking to step into formal leadership, as well as an existing middle leader seeking a fixed-term opportunity to broaden their leadership experience.
