About the role Woodwork Teacher:
A secondary school in Melbourne’s west is seeking a passionate Woodwork & VET Teacher to join their team. You will deliver engaging, hands-on classes in woodwork, cabinetry, furniture design, and VCE VET programs such as Building & Construction or Furnishing. You’ll inspire students to develop practical skills, craftsmanship, and confidence for future vocational pathways.
Key responsibilities of a Wood Work teacher:
Plan and deliver engaging woodwork and VET lessons aligned with curriculum and competency requirements
Teach skills in timber selection, joinery, cabinetry, furniture making, finishing techniques, and safe workshop practices
Maintain a safe, well-managed workshop environment
Support students in vocational pathways, workplace learning, and industry placements
Collaborate with colleagues to develop strong, industry-relevant vocational learning programs
What we’re looking for from a Wood Work teacher:
Current VIT registration (or eligibility)
Teaching qualifications in Design & Technology, Woodwork, or a related area
Industry background in carpentry, furniture making, joinery, or similar (highly valued)
Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (or willingness to complete)
Strong focus on student engagement, workshop safety, and practical skills development
Experience in helping students achieve strong outcomes, including NAPLAN literacy and numeracy benchmarks
