About the role

Prospero Teaching is currently seeking an experienced and passionate Year 1 Primary Teacher for a fixed-term position at one of our partner independent schools in South-West Sydney.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for a Year 1 class, delivering engaging and differentiated learning experiences while supporting students' academic, social and emotional development.

The school is conveniently located in South-West Sydney and is easily accessible from surrounding suburbs including Bankstown, Greenacre, Punchbowl and Padstow.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and manage a Year 1 classroom
• Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons across the primary curriculum
• Plan and assess learning in line with NESA requirements
• Develop foundational literacy and numeracy skills
• Create a positive, safe and inclusive classroom environment
• Monitor student progress and provide meaningful feedback
• Support student wellbeing and social-emotional development
• Build strong relationships with students, families and colleagues
• Contribute to collaborative planning and the wider school community

What we're looking for

• Current NESA registration (Conditional, Provisional or Proficient)
• Relevant Primary Teaching qualification
• Experience teaching Early Stage 1 or Stage 1 preferred
• Strong knowledge of early literacy and numeracy
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to quickly build rapport with students and staff
• Commitment to student wellbeing and positive learning outcomes
